Hello, I am Mr. Johnson. This is my 7th year at Davis. I teach Math 7 and Pre-Algebra (8th Grade). I also coach football and wrestling.
A little background on me. I am originally from a small rural town in Minnesota called Luverne. After graduating high school I entered the Army and served for 7.5 years. After I was honorably discharged from the Army I started college at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). I graduated with honors with a bachelors of science in education with an emphasis in mathematics and social sciences.
This year is going to be a challenging one as we move to remote learning for the first quarter, so it is imperative that your student brings their best mindset and effort each day of school. With remote learning it is going to require the student to be respectful, responsible, and accountable. With that being said there will be some general expectations to online learning which will be as follows:
-Students are expected to be logged into Teams meetings with the class and be an active participant during the class. If a student is not logged in or does not participate the admin for the grade level and parent will be emailed to provide open communication about the status of the student.
-Students will be expected to be respectful during class meetings. This means no verbal, video, or digital media interruptions. If the student decides to be disruptive to the online education of others the following will occur:
***Any offensive digital display or language will be recorded and sent to administration & parent. This student will be immediately removed from the meeting.
1.) 1st Verbal, digital message, or personal video use to disrupt class the student will be asked to please refrain from disrupting.
2.) If student continues to be disruptive, they will be muted from verbal disruption. If they continue with video or chat disruptions they will be asked a 2nd time to refrain.
3.) If student persists to cause disruptions they will be taken out of the Teams meeting. Administration and Parent will be informed of the removal.
